Lecture on the Art of Chinese Brush Painting
by Deborah DelGais-Muller from the Pawtucket Arts Council, home of the Galway Kinnel Poetry Contest and Art Education

Dr. Deborah DelGais - Muller will discuss the gongbi and xiebi techniques of Chinese brush painting, the relationship between painting and calligraphy, and the subject matter of Zhao Yanwang's paintings.

Dr. DelGais - Muller, whose field of interest is the history of Chinese painting studies, holds a PhD from Yale University and is the Curator of Asian Art at the RISD Museum. Among her many awards, honors, and curatorial accomplishments are the RISD Professional Development Grant, the American Philosophical Society Grand-in-Aid, and the creation, with colleague, Professor Paola Dematte, of a Korea Foundation that sponsored a Korean art lecture series at RISD in the spring of 2002.

The author of many articles, Dr. DelGais - Muller is working on the essay Raphael Pumpelly's Album of Suriomo: Early Japonisme in New England.
